John Lohse was born and raised in Pomeroy in Southeastern Ohio. He has a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Purdue University, and spent more than 20 years as a software engineer for AT&T and Lucent Bell Laboratories designing telecommunications systems. Now retired and residing in rural Meigs County, John is the Board treasurer of the Foothills Music Foundation and treasurer of the Appalachian Ohio Group of the Sierra Club. An avid nature photographer, he and his wife Mary Beth provide programs about native wildflowers of Southeastern Ohio. Christine Knisely is a fifteen-year resident of Athens, and has a keen interest in promoting the many resources of the region. She is active in the League of Women Voters and is an Athens City Council member. At Ohio University, she directed a summer institute in the College of Education for math and science teachers (1993-94), funded by the National Science Foundation. Since 1996 she has worked in the College of Osteopathic Medicine as Executive Director of the Office of Research and Grants. She has also worked at the Ohio Humanities Council, a state-based agency of the National Endowment for the Humanities, where she served as Assistant Director and Co-Director from 1982 to1993. Mike Kraus was an enthusiastic camper and Boy Scout in his youth, traveling the country with his scout troop during the summer months. He thought he would attend college in Northern Ohio, but all it took to change his mind was to experience the beauty of the Athens area and the Ohio University campus. He makes his home in Athens with his wife and four children. Michael is the President of Net Enterprises, Inc., a technology consulting and computer repair firm serving Southeastern Ohio. Sandra Sleight-Brennan produces award-winning features and documentaries for radio that help listeners interpret their history and environment. Public Radio International distributed her documentary Deep In Our Hearts about four women involved in the civil rights movement. Her documentary A Passion for Art received the first-place radio feature/human interest National Headliner’s Award in 2004. She has worked as a consultant for the United Nations and has taught script writing and audio production.
